- Soft tissue neoplasm, consists gelatinous material with myxoid appearance
- Usually in the heart
Epidemiology: Females 4th decade
Histology: Dispersed stellate/spindle shaped fibroblasts in loose myxoid stroma
Clinical:
- Tachycardia
- Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea (PND)
- Dyspnea on exertion
- Weight loss
- Hemoptysis
- Fever
- Syncope
- Sudden death
Management:
- Surgical excision + 5mm extra septum
- Risk of recurrence
Types:
- Cutaneous/superficial myxoma
- Intramuscular myxoma
- Juxta articular myxoma
- Aggressive angiomyxoma
- Angiomyofibroblastoma
- Superficial acral fibromyxoma
- Nerve sheath myxoma (neurothekeoma)
