Myxofibroma

Not metastasize, but locally invasive

Common site: Mandible > Maxilla

  • Maxilla:
    • Zygomatic bone
    • Premolar/molar region
    • Maxillary sinus
  • Mandible:
    • Molar region
    • Angle
    • Ramus

Clinical:

  • Painless
  • Slow progressive swelling of face
  • Missing, loosened or displaced teeth

Radiology:

  • Tennis racket appearance
  • Large radiolucency
  • Displaced teeth

Histology:

  • Stellate mesenchymal cells with branching processes
  • Abundant acid mucopolysaccharide stroma

Management:

  • Wide surgical excision
  • Enucleation
  • Good prognosis
  • Can recur
